Got questions? We've got answers!

These are some of the questions we hear all the time. If your E-Stopp is not working or is acting strangely, please call us directly to talk to a technician. Since 90% of the technical issues we face are due to incorrect wiring, please double-check your connections before calling.

Q: What kind of brakes does the E-Stopp work with?
A: Any brakes that accept a standard emergency brake cable.

Q: Will the unit hook up to my existing e-brake cables?

A: Yes, it actually makes for an easier install.

Q: Can it be attached to both brakes?
A: Yes, most emergency brake cables run to both brakes. If yours do not, you can buy a simple adapter to combine cables.

Q: Where should I mount the motor enclosure?
A: With encased cables you can mount it anywhere you have room; on the chassis, under the floorboard or even inside the cab or trunk. Avoid high temperature areas.

Q: Is the E-Stopp weatherproof?
A: The motor enclosure is double-layered weatherproof (IP67 rated). The control box is not and should be mounted in the cab or another protected area.

Q: How many inches of travel does the E-Stopp have?
A: About 2 inches. Most systems only need about 1. The motor stops itself once it reaches 600 pounds of resistance.

Q: Will the E-Stopp drain my battery?
A: No. Once engaged the unit locks and draws only a tiny amount of current from the battery. It would take many years for the battery to run dry.

Q: What happens if my battery dies for other reasons while the brake is engaged?
A: The unit remains engaged until it receives power again.

Q: How does the ignition safety device work?
A: The E-Stopp can be wired to your vehicle's ignition switch. Doing so prevents the E-Stopp from being accidentally engaged while driving.

Q: Is the E-Stopp NSRA safety certified?
A: Yes, though it must be hooked up to both brakes to comply.

Q: Is the E-Stopp DOT certified?
A: Unfortunately not. The DOT only certifies brake hoses and calipers.

Q: Can I purchase replacement parts?
A: Yes! You can find them here in our shop.

Q: I own a shop and would like to install E-Stopps for my customers. Do you offer discounts?
A: We sure do! Contact our sales group at sales@estopp.com and we can hook you up.

Q: I'm a distributor of auto parts and accessories and would like to carry

E-Stopps. What should I do?
A: We'd love to have you as a partner! Shoot us an email at sales@estopp.com and we'll get you set up. We offer volume discounts and sales assistance to help you on your way.

Q: I'm doing a build for a show or event and would like E-Stopp to sponsor me. Is that possible?
A: It sure is! Send a short description of your build and promotional intentions to sponsorships@estopp.com and we'll figure out how we can help.

Q: I have a question that isn't on this list. Where can I go for more information?
A: Check out our how-to page for videos that will walk you through a standard installation. If you're still scratching your head, email us at sales@estopp.com or give us a call!
